Licensed & Insured24/7 ServiceFamily-owned · Hagerstown, MD

Comfort Central Inc. replaces and services air conditioners, furnaces, and heat pumps throughout Westfields — Washington County's 773-home master-planned community off Sharpsburg Pike and Rockland Drive, minutes from I-70. The community's original builder-grade systems are reaching end of life in waves, and because Westfields is Potomac Edison territory, EmPOWER Maryland equipment discounts apply. Family-owned and Hagerstown-based since 2006.

Westfields homes

Why are so many Westfields systems failing at the same time?

Westfields was developed by Ausherman as Washington County's flagship master-planned community — 773 single-family homes clustered around more than 150 acres of open space, walking trails, a pool, and Rockland Woods Elementary right inside the neighborhood. Because whole sections were built out in concentrated waves from the 2000s onward (with newer DRB Homes phases still recent), the original builder-grade furnaces and air conditioners in the earlier streets are hitting the end of their service lives together. When we replace a system on one street, the neighbors' equipment is usually the same age.

The good news: these homes have engineered ductwork and proper basements or utility spaces, so replacement is a clean drop-in decision. The question that matters is what goes in next — a right-sized high-efficiency furnace and AC, or a heat pump that captures the Potomac Edison rebate and cuts shoulder-season bills.

  • HOA architectural review for exterior changes

Westfields' association reviews exterior alterations. A like-for-like swap in the same footprint is routine, but relocated condensers, larger side-discharge heat pumps, or new sidewall venting for a condensing furnace can need approval. We prepare placement details so the paperwork doesn't stall your install.

  • Builder-grade equipment at end of life

Original systems in the earlier phases are 15–25 years old. We give you a straight repair-vs-replace comparison with numbers — and a free second opinion if another company already quoted you.

  • Two-story comfort balance

Big two-story plans run hot upstairs in July. Variable-speed equipment and real airflow balancing fix it without oversizing the system into short-cycling.

Rebates that apply in Westfields (Verified July 2026)

Most Washington County homes outside the Hagerstown city line get electricity from Potomac Edison, which means EmPOWER Maryland equipment discounts apply through December 31, 2026: $1,500 on qualifying air-source heat pumps, $1,700 on cold-climate heat pumps, $1,400 on central air conditioners, $800 on ductless systems, and $7,100 on geothermal heat pumps. Equipment must be purchased through and installed by a participating contractor. The state's HEAR rebates have not launched yet, and the federal 25C tax credit expired December 31, 2025 — we'll never sell you on money that isn't real today.

Westfields questions, answered

Does the Westfields HOA need to approve a new AC or heat pump?

Replacing equipment in the same footprint is generally routine maintenance. Anything that changes the exterior — a relocated or larger outdoor unit, new sidewall venting — can fall under the association's architectural review. We prepare the placement plan with your application so approval doesn't delay the install.

My furnace and AC are original to the house. Repair or replace?

At 15–25 years old, a major repair usually isn't worth it — but not always. We inspect the system, price the repair and the replacement side by side, and let the numbers decide. Second opinions are free.

Are there rebates for replacing HVAC equipment in Westfields in 2026?

Yes — verified July 2026: Westfields is Potomac Edison territory, so EmPOWER discounts apply through participating contractors until December 31, 2026: $1,500 qualifying air-source heat pumps, $1,700 cold-climate, $1,400 central AC, $800 ductless.

Should I replace my AC with a heat pump?

Often yes. A heat pump cools exactly like an AC, covers most of the heating season at lower cost with your furnace as backup, and unlocks the Potomac Edison heat-pump discount a plain AC doesn't get.

Who pulls the permit for HVAC replacement in Westfields?

Westfields is in Washington County's permit jurisdiction (not the City of Hagerstown), and your contractor should pull the mechanical permit. We handle it as part of the job — call (301) 745-5515 with questions.
